Brazilian Portuguese Learning Resources

The following is a list of tools that I have used to learn Portuguese. I decided to learn Portuguese to understand the music and I thought it wouldn't be too difficult since I already had a solid understanding of Spanish. Up to this point, my entire Portuguese language learning journey has been self guided. With these resources, there is no doubt that you can learn Portuguese to a conversationally fluent level especially if you already speak another romance language.

Courses

Duolingo Brazilian Portuguese

Duolingo offers a mostly comprehensive Brazilian Portuguese course for beginners. The course covers a diverse range of vocabulary and grammar, useful for most situations you will encounter. It also comes with 100 stories that are easy to follow and provide comprehensible input. Be sure to take advantage of the discussion option if you are uncertain about an exercise.
Mini-Course in Brazilian Portuguese Pronunciation

Speaking Brazilian offers a 7-day pronunciation course that will give you the tools to speak Portuguese like a real Brazilian. Videos are subtitled in Portuguese and English, so you can follow along if you are an absolute beginner.

Speaking Brazilian is an excellent resource for beginner and intermediate grammar lessons and quizzes. I highly recommend her videos if you are a beginner who needs comprehensible input and help with grammar concepts.
Portuguese With Leo

Portuguese With Leo is a European Portuguese Youtube Channel with videos about Portuguese Language, Culture, and History.

Vocabulary

A Frequency Dictionary of Portuguese - Mark Davies, Ana Preto-Bay

The most common 5000 words in Portuguese with translations and example sentences. An excellent study tool if you want to acquire vocabulary quickly as a beginner.
Anki
Flash card app with space repetition system. I recommend using this in conjunction with the frequency dictionary. When you get to a high enough level this tool should be abandoned in favor of more immersive methods.
